Nice quiet spot to relax or for some catch and release fishing.
I cycled along the Waterway from Lakefield after leaving my car parked across from Home Hardware in free parking space . I cycled down the scenic highway to Trent University after visiting most of the Locks along the way. The Staff were friendly at each Lock, and one Attendant even gave me a bottle of cold water when I asked if I could purchase some there.
I used the Highway rather than adjacent Trail because the Canal was visible from the Highway, and was designated for dual use. I crossed the Canal at the University to explore over there, but returned to Lakefield by the same route. It is a 20 K
ride and most enjoyable.
Great place for lunch. If you launch from Peterborough for a day round trip on the waterway, this is a good place for lunch, relax and a return trip.
It's nice, you can have a bunch of families or groups of friends here and still socially distance (and then some). Hubby and I like to bring our chairs and put them in the water. The waters pretty dirty, we wouldn't swim in it, but it's fine to just dip our feet in. Very calm and relaxng.
Love it here. Its tunning and amazing to just hang out. Also, never seen fireflies and seen them here for the first time.
