I was grateful to find BlackHill Dobermans. Great application process. You can tell that they want their pups to have the best homes. Pups are prepped prior to going home too. They do so much work with them, I know that my work + their prep, is why my girl (Karma) isn’t sensitive to noises at all. She’s got an amazing temperament and is doing amazing!
They really care about their puppies. Offering support whenever you need it. I also really appreciated the choosing process. Sam had a puppy in mind for me, but also let the puppy choose me and vice versa. I can’t imagine my life without Karma. Thank you BlackHill Dobermans ❤️🐾
We are truly grateful for making the decision to have our german shepherd pup (Maysie, 13 months old) stay with Blackhill for a four week board and train program. Previous to her stay, we had invested time and effort into training Maysie in obedience but faced a few obstacles when it came to high-distraction situations like encountering ATV's and snowmobiles when out on trail walks - along with a few other quirks. It came to a point where we were worried for her safety and decided to entrust our precious girl with Sam and Andrew for a month so she could be trained with an e-collar to help ensure she responded to our cues when her safety was at stake. Well, we couldn't have been more pleased with the result - not only with ATV's but with countless other situations that have improved our day-to-day interactions with her. We not only arrived to find that Maysie was still the same loving, playful pup that we dropped off - but she was now so responsive, consistent, and focused when it was expected of her. Maysie's recall improved tremendously, her pulling during walks has decreased significantly, I have been able to use the "place" command to a great extent with meaningful success (preparing our meals, her meals, putting on her collar/leash, vacuuming, etc), she is incredible with her threshold work (sits at an open door until given her cue to walk out the door, car door, backyard gate, etc), and we have continued the counter conditioning work associated with the vacuum that Sam and Andrew trained during her stay. We have also been able to brush her without her biting the brush and her ability to not jump when greeting high-value guests has improved by leaps and bounds (or, rather, with far less leaping!). We appreciate Sam and Andrew's hard work that went into training our girl and know that she was in caring hands while she was there. Thank you! Amy and Mike
