I am absolutely blown away with how delicious and flavourful this food was!! The owner is so lovely and welcoming. The Guiness stew tastes exactly how I remember it tasting when I was in Ireland but better!! The lamb was so tender and bursting with flavour, even the veggies were so amazing and flavourful! The breaded pickles were super delicious and the soda bread made me very happy. Plus their amazing beer was so rich and delicious, everything was amazing!
I cannot wait to be able to dine in again, this place is so beautiful and cozy, extremely recommend!!
Also they sell frozen and packaged foods as well!! Definitely going again.
A fantastic, cozy Irish pub in downtown Newcastle.
Very small but incredible food. Regular pub fare but something for everyone. Great beer selection as well. A local craft beer was nice.
Friendly service. Highly recommend
I had given up trying to find a nice pint of Guinness in Ontario. I had accepted defeat that I would not find one as good as back home. That was until a friend mentioned that they had visited a nice bar in Newcastle that was really charming and that had great food & amazing Guinnees. When i arrived I was greeted by the main man John who is from Dublin and showed us all around the bar for pictures of the county and a bar down the road from where i grew up! He was incredibly friendly along with the rest of the staff and tended to us throughout the night. We got the their surf and turf which was amazing and the Guinness tasted like just around the corner from where i grew up. By far the best pint in Ontario. I cant speak highly enough about this place and will 100% be heading back down for a little taste of home!
A delightful experience not to be missed! I came here with a friend of mine who recommended it when we were out for a drive and raved about it almost the whole drive there. The menu has an excellent selection of traditional Irish pub fare and also more fancy options with something anyone of any age will enjoy. I have come here many times now and the service and staff have always been lovely, busy or quiet, they aim to make your experience a great one. My favourite unfortunately is off the menu now, the Coddle, but on occasion they have had it as a special, so it might be gone, but certainly not forgotten. Their trio of pot pies warms the soul and the traditional chips (fries) are scrumptious. The decor of the little space will captivate you and your fellow foodie friends. There are a multitude of different furniture pieces and a mishmash of art work, photos and memorabilia filling every wall, which adds to the experience in many ways, but as a tall person I have had to request being moved to another seating because my legs didn’t fit well under the table and I would either bang them or practically have to sit legs spread wide open. While comical in the moment, it wouldn’t have been comfortable to stay in for a whole meal. That being said I can’t wait to go back again and during the pandemic they are still open for takeout. While I greatly miss being able to sit inside, if takeout can keep this outstanding little gem open then I am all for it. If you get a chance to eat here, do it, you won’t regret it!
