My daughter has rode here for years and it has always been a wonderful experience. It's a truly hands on experience and your child learns to ride properly and safely. The barn is beautiful and the people are great!
I began riding at Hoskins Stables when I was 6 and I still ride here now. I know people who learned to ride here and now their children are starting are being coached here as well. The coaches here are incredible. Hoskin's is not just a riding stable, but it is a family. The people here are so willing to help you when you're stuck and are encouraging beyond belief.
I started here on a pony named Smokey and slowly graduated throughout the school ponies to a horse of my own. I now own Fairmile Aaron, a Section D Welsh Cob. Last year I was able to win the Pleasure Under Saddle Championship at the Royal Winter Agricultural Fair. I know for a fact I could not of done this without the support and teachings of my Hoskins Family.
Shirley Cane is the owner of Hoskins Stables and has won numerous championships within Pleasure Driving in the Welsh Circuit.
Regardless of whether you want to ride for fun, or ride for competition, Hoskins Stables is without a doubt the place to learn.
I rode here as a kid and now my two daughters. Hoskin Stables teaches you the fundamentals of riding of which are so hard to come by now. How to balance your horse, what the outside rein is, how to do a PROPER figure 8 just to name a few. I have ridden and taught at many barns where it is about pushing kids to show on already made horses and ponies. I can't tell you how many times I have heard "Just sit there, Poppy knows what to do, just smile". If you want to learn how to RIDE and not just sit there and look pretty then Hoskin Stables is the place to go. You don't have to have a fancy facility, with top of the line everything to enjoy riding. Your supposed to ride because you love horses. All the horses/ponies are well fed and cared for and they still had horses/ponies there from when I was a kid so that tells you something!
I take lessons here once a week and I love it. The horses are very well taken care of and loved. The barn is older but it is so beautiful. The horses are friendly and so are the people who own it! I can't say one bad thing about it. It's an absolutely fantastic place. Other places I rode just taught you to hold on and go. Here, I learn how to ride properly and I always have fun.
