We were given a very extensive and informative private guided tour of the church and manse by Cory (sorry if spelled wrong!). She was a wealth of information, not just in regards to the life of LMM and her family, but also illustrated a very colourful image of what life in Leaskdale would have been like at the time that the author called the town home. The home has been carefully and thoughtfully curated with a combination of authentic artifacts that belonged to the family and other town residents, and pieces that, while not actually owned by the family, resemble exactly what would have been in the home at the time. We were also pleased to find that the gift shop had several items of great interest, including several newly edited and revised volumes of the many journal entries of the author.
It was simple to book the tour, just called the number listed here, and for the price, you get incredible value for your money! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has any interest in Lucy Maud Montgomery, rural Ontario history from the early 1900's, or even antique lovers who would enjoy seeing a well appointed and accurately portrayed home from this period.
Great for fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Very informative and well maintained by a committed group of volunteers.
The dedication of the people that run this charming place is very evident. Every room is set up authentically based on Lucy's own numerous photos of her beloved home. I especially enjoyed the quotes from her journals posted around the house. Thanks for going above and beyond to accommodate my tour!
Really loved our tour guide and everything was handled so well given covid situation too.
I couldn't give any more than 3 stars for my visit here since we were not able to actually go inside due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Very pretty area, and we stumbled across it while out for an afternoon drive.
