I appreciated Sean's candor and his clear explanation of the work that needs to be done. He is very personable and explained the issues re our gas line very thoroughly. I don't mess around with gas or electricity and want things done to code.

As I feared, our existing gas pipe isn't wide enough or close enough to the meter for a new gas pool heater. I know others might go ahead and install the heater anyway, but I don't want to risk potential damage down the line that may lead to costly repairs and gas leaks. We've spent a lot of $ in repairs and want things done correctly for peace of mind and resale value.

Sean explained what needed to be done and why, how he would do it and what the work would involve. No, gas labour and copper materials are not cheap but I want a trained professional - not a handyman with some basic skills. I want someone trained in dealing with a flammable material that could level my house -- so there is a price to pay for that expertise that the previous homeowner did not. Word to the wise, when buying a house, always check the existing gas line (pipe width and distance from meter) if you want to install a pool heater, gas stovetop or gas BBQ - on top of your gas furnace and water heater. Bigger homes require wider pipe.

Lastly, I prefer dealing locally with someone who lives in my neighbourhood. So I like that Sean is a local and not a just a subcontractor working on behalf of a chain.
