To my knowledge, Edward Qu is the most skilled tea expert in Canada. His tea classes, China tea vacation, and monthly tea subscription plans are the (constantly improving) best. The monthly tea subscription is catered to each individual, so contact him to get on one! He helps bring China tea culture and tea appreciation to Canada by volunteering with the Toronto Tea festival and being in charge of the Burlington tea festival. Spending time learning from him is an experience you will treasure. Buying loose leaf tea from him will be necessary, once you have had some classes and realize its nigh impossible to find such a large selection of quality tea elsewhere in Canada.
I have joined an afternoon tea gathering over a weekend in Ming tea. The room is well decorated, the tea is perfect, and what the surprise is the cake made by Edward is very tasty. This is a perfect place to meet friends, to hold activity. Looking forward to joining more gathering in Ming Tea.
I bought 2 exquisite Gaiwan from Ming Tea and Edward(the owner) shipped them out very quickly. I will defensively attend his tea events one day when I come to visit Canada. Get exposed to elegant and authentic Chinese tea culture and enjoy a cup of good tea~
Best tea place in GTA area. Thrilled by quality and quantity of Edward's collection. I so wanted to take pictures but forgot it completely in front of tea. Will do next time...
I have taken a few different tea courses, but Edward and Crystal are absolutely amazing instructors who put a unique spine on tea, its history, economic significance, manufacturing and preparation practices, and its relation to aesthetics, ethics, and etiquette. And they also give you really practical ways to develop your palette and your ability to describe what you are tasting and smelling. If you want to learn about this beverage you can do no better than take advantage of one or more of the flexible options that Ming Tea gives you to start your discovery!
