I could go on and on about all that they do for the community. We live in Oak Park and see firsthand all that film.ca does for the community. We could talk about the fundraisers, the food drives, charity contributions, programs for kids, ticket angels, t he phenomenal parties, and more.
But, I think the thing that just makes film.ca stand out for me most is the manner in which they conduct their business at the theater. When I was growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money and going to the movie theatre was a real treat. Nowadays going to a major Cineplex is not the same. There’s a lot of flash but no connection.
But when I go to film.ca and bring my kids, it takes me back to when I was a child of the 80s. Walking in, and having personal interest and personal investment from the staff makes a huge difference. Everyone is always so warm and friendly. The place is always clean. People are ready to help you and provide personal service. I am now able to bring my family to a place where we can watch a movie together that feels as special for me now and them as it did to me when I was a child. What they’re able to do at film.ca is absolutely magical.
The tickets here are very cheap, and they have a pretty good selection of movies. Very good value and also good food. Once I had a pizza here with my friend and it was good. I met Jeff Knoll once and it was really cool. I used it as inspiration for a school English project.
Just another one of the amazing hidden gems here in Oakville!!
A local business...
Please support them by purchasing gift certificates or movie passes for when they open back up!!
By far my favourite theatre. I live close to the burloak cineplex and drive to this one (not too far) as it's hands down more enjoyable, local-oriented, community supportive, and with great prices. Easily a great choice and the theatre quality is way better than you would expect from a small independent. It's on the same level screen/audio experience.
Simply put my favorite theatre. The big boys are nice, but supporting a local entrepreneur is priceless (the hot dogs are great and the popcorn is isanely fresh) Today, my girlfriend took her kids (3 teens) to film.ca and the 4 pm showing of "Sonic the Hedgehog" (all 3 kids are gamers or have played the game in the past). She went to refill the kid's refreshments during the film and had an accident before leaving the counter. Unknown to her...she had left her wallet at the counter. After the movie was over, a bearded young man in a burgundy shirt approached her and stated that he noticed the wallet at the counter and held same in the safe until the film was over. Every piece of ID, money, credit cards, office keys, etc., were attached to this wallet. She did not get his name as she was so relieved and pleased by this encounter. She mentioned it to me and I thought that this was something you needed to know because she felt this would never ever have happened at some large, nondescript branded theatre multiplex. It happened in Oakville, at your theatre because of your team and the community aspect of what you have developed. Thank you Film.ca
