Kristen Rose has been a gift to our family. She has been a vital part of my 89 year old father's life for almost 2 years. Kristen helps him to continue his independent living by supporting his personal care, meal assists, taking him to appointments etc. Following a surgery, Kristen immediately jumped in to provide multiple daily visits in the immediate post-surgery period to ensure Dad made it back to his pre-surgery capabilities. (CCAC wasn't willing to provide home care assistance until 2 weeks after his surgery!).
Not only does Kristen provide all this skilled support but she does it with kindness and patience. She engages with Dad, moves at his speed and knows how to work with, not against, his anxieties, confusion, and stubborness. Kristen is always quietly assessing his cognitive processes and lets me know when she notices anything outside of his normal that may be of concern.
They say it takes a village to raise a child; well, it also takes a village to care for our vulnerable seniors and Kristen in an invaluable member of my Dad's community and helps me shoulder the weight of care (with love) for my Dad. All seniors should so fortunate as to have a Kristen Rose.
