Pre-ordered some day old chicks. Arranged for springtime so coop area would be ready. Gave my very reasonable deposit and placed my order. Had a few questions and they were honestly and correctly answered. No pressures. April reached out closer to spring to touch base. Again friendly and no pressure.
Postings and communication open, honest and informative.
Due to proximity no delivery of chicks required I could easily go pick up. Again April reached out to arrange pick up. She was flexible, professional and communicated easily. Date for pick up made, order confirmed. Day of pick up I etransfered balance and drove over.
Texted I arrived and she immediately texted back “ on property directions “. Just want to say ... absolutely LOVELY property. Well maintained, clean, organized, landscaped and well established and cared for. Just want to add... I am slightly jealous but have some stolen ideas and goals.
Met April’s whom I assume was her official meet and greeter... a friendly dog. Something, that not many ppl dealing with April will have the opportunity to experience.... her animals and poultry are so well cared for and sooo content and quiet! With 100’s of poultry on property it was calm and quiet! Soft hen talk, the cutest chick chirps were heard but NO chicken barn chaos or noise.
Everyone had lots of free moving room. Clean and ample water, clean and ample feed. Appropriate roosts sizes and heights. Nesting boxes clean and maintained. All poultry organized, clean, fed, watered and lots of sheltered, well ventilated area with more than AMPLE recommended space- NO SMELL! All were calm, no feather issues, all eyes clear. Awesome set up April!
Asked some questions... again answered. Chicks were packed up for me in front of me.
Chitchat more. Then something I want to share about my experience that I think every potential customer or previous customer or current customer should know.
I found out that April hatches all her eggs in her home where she lives eats and sleeps so she has hands-on true caring nurturing investment in these chicks. Quite impressive to me.
Although to be honest other people do that too, but what absolutely formed an opinion that will stay with me that I wanted to report on. Was there was a little chick that April showed me ( I would never have seen it unless she did show me ) in with the day olds, that was about a week old she told me and the feathers confirm that but the size was deceptive. No bigger than a day old it had one eye normal and one eye closed. I asked her if it was an injury or deformity I asked her what she had done for it as I have an emergency medical background I’m also a rehabilitator for animals I love animals and I always take the hard cases and try to fix them. She told me what she had done for it and then it was probably a deformity no obvious signs of injury and I could tell cause she let me look at the chick.
I find out that this woman who runs a business of selling pure bred high-quality chickens and chicks number one showed me the issue with no shame and no excuses didn’t hide it or lie then told me she kept it in the house for a week to try to take care of it and to allow it to eat and drink because it was at a disadvantage and then moved it once it was strong and healthy in with day olds so it wouldn’t be bullied the same size of itself. This woman didn’t just cull this insignificant genetic fail or dispose of this little one that would add work to what I would assume is a quite heavy workload. She has a heart, she is kind, compassionate, hard-working and should be very proud of who she is and what she does! I asked her what she was going to do with this little one. She told me she wasn’t sure if it was a rooster it was going to the rooster pen not for breeding and if it was a hen she would probably keep it but not for breeding... see next post for continuation..
Had a handful of chicks delivered last week. Great delivery system. Very happy and healthy birds. Im SO excited to see them grow up!!
I bought 3 dozens chicks from Blazing Colours farm - they’re all very healthy and growing up quickly! Amazing service, and April’s communication during drop offs was absolutely flawless. Highly recommended!
I am very happy with the eggs I received from Blazing Colours Farm! They were packed with care and in the best packaging I have ever had eggs come in. The eggs hatched and the chicks are gorgeous! 5 stars from me!
Exceptional service, quality of grain, hay and overall cleanliness. Staff are always kind and very helpful. Boarders are so well treated and lucky to have such a beautiful facility and arenas. Pastures are wonderfully kept with an abundance of green grass. Horses are out to Pasture even during soft ground seasons, in the all purpose paddocks.
