My Parents moved in a little more than 2 years ago, it was the best decision they could have ever made.Upkeep of their home was getting to be far too much for them. Mum and dad went too many places to research and check out what would be best suited for them.
St Charles was like a dream come true for my parents. St Charles offered all the amenities and more from Nursing staff to help my parents with daily administration of their drugs, to housekeeping staff, and dietary staff. Even the maintenance staff is there to help when required
I was so surprised that Dad would enjoy the meals here, as dad was rather accustomed to having his meals prepared in the Dutch way, at times there are a few dishes that aren't dads favourite but the kitchen staff always tries their best to find a substitute to please my father.
My Mum passed away 8 months into her stay at St Charles ,Debbie, and Tanya helped me tremendously, they suggested that a celebration of life in the common room for mum would be a great way to honour her wonderful spirit and zeal for life. The kitchen staff prepared food beverages and even the dining room staff took time from their personal life to assist with serving, and make sure all guest were provided for
Mum would have loved it. The residents also came to share in the celebration. Everything was perfect and the function turned out beautifully.
If ever I was troubled about a situation with dad ,or if my father has a grievance or concern to bring up Debbie's door is always open, she'll always find time to listen to any problem you may have and see if the situation can be resolved
Debbies first priority is and always has been the well being and quality of care and life for the residents . The Nursing Staff ,Christine and Marie are the best they have the same standards as Debbie has
No place is ever going to be perfect but at St Charles I have no worries about dad's quality of care. He's happy and free to enjoy all the perks St Charles has to offer. My father enjoys his long walks along the park by the canal and all the amenities dad wants are close by.
I definitely would recommend St Charles Village to anyone, it's given me peace of mind and my father pleasure of life

Until a few weeks ago, my mother was a resident here for several years. She loved the access to walking along the canal, her apartment was perfectly suited to her needs and the staff and residents alike always created a great community feeling.
From Christmas until 5 weeks ago she had been classified as "in crisis" and was awaiting placement in a longterm care facility. She needed far more help than a "retirement home" can give so we had psw help come in the a.m, PM mid day and we as a family were there as much as possible...but there was still a huge amount of time where support was needed for her safety. This is where the staff...every member from office, nusrsing, housekeeping, kitchen...made all the difference in the world for us. We all worked together as a unified team to keep mom safe. Even the residents were always helping to keep her safe. This community of support allowed us to not make a terrible decision to accept a bed in a facility we did not want but allowed us to wait it out and get a bed in our top choice of homes.
Without their support this would not have been possible for us. Even the emotional support from staff every evening after bedtime helped to restore us for the next day.
We can not thank you all enough.
I have had my aunt who is 93 years old and blind living at St. Charles Village for about 5 years now. It was the best decision I made in regards to her well being, from the administrator Debbie, the nursing staff Chris and her staff, the housecleaning staff, the dietary staff, even the maintenance staff, have all gone above and beyond to make her stay as pleasant as possible. As a for instance, she has about 10 % vision in one eye, they made bingo cards just for her that are extra large numbers so that she can play. Francine the events co-ordinator does a wonderful job with activities that keep them occupied. The dining room is like a fine restaurant, and when they are under the weather they serve them in their rooms. St. Charles has been a god send for me, and I highly recommend it.

Like most places things seem to be in order until you spend time to see exactly what is going on. My mom and dad arrived at this retirement home in 2014 . It was my sister who made that decision. I never seen so much confusion as to what you can or cannot do. They are privately funded so apparently they can do whatever they feel like. Let me state that there are some awesome people working there so in no way am l criticizing the workers. To me it seems like the problem comes from the individuals running this facility. Everytime there was a serious issue on the table..the answer was if you don't like it move out. This is a bad attitude. I have spoke to many of the residents here and a few have stood up for their rights and many others live in fear they will be tossed to the curb.To sum things up if it was myself making a decision to put mom and dad here my answer would be NO WAY!!! Thank-you for taking the time to read.
