My experience with Douglas Academy started from last summer when I registered my son for a week in a coding summer camp to take an idea about it. He enjoyed it and asked me to register him for more classes in coding. From September 2018 till now, my two sons are taking coding and robotics classes. They are enjoying it very much. The instructors are very helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. I highly recommend Douglas Academy for your kids' future.
I registered my daughter at few workshops at Douglas Academy and I am impressed with the way they teach and how fast they add content and improve. I registered my daughter at few coding and robotics schools in the past (in Mississauga and Montreal). Here is my review about what I like and what I would like to improve.
I like:
- Their Friendly staff, they are always happy :-)
- In depth content compared to other coding schools I saw in the area.
- Rich content (I was surprised to know that they teach Python and Java to kids! But boy, they own a special platform where they teach kids how to code in simple way. My daughter is always keen to work on her exercises, I never saw her like this before!)
- They take feeback seriously! They sent me few emails asking about my feedback.
- They keep improving their content and delivery, when I look at the first workshop we joined (a year back and the one we just joined, massive improvement!)
- I just saw what they are planning for 2019 and that was my trigger to write this feedback
- I like mixing robotics and coding, kids learn to build and think to code!
Areas to improve:
- They are limited in the number of days they are offering training. Can we get workshops for 2 days a week or even 3 days a week?
- I think they should have formal evaluation between the different levels, my daughter received a certificate when she finished her current level, but I would like her to go through a test and get us back the results. I do not mind if she fail and repeat the same level.
- I think you should do better job advertising, I was referred by a friend and I can see many people not hearing about you because you are not active in marketing. I will post this review at your othe locations so people can read it.
My 7 year old son went to the summer camp in July 2018. He really enjoyed himself building with Wedo and coding with Scratch. The instructors were very friendly and the volunteers were always ready to lend a hand when needed. He and his best friend are looking forward to starting regular coding lessons in September 2018.
Great workshop for the little ones. They make it engaging and fun. Brilliant minds working together is a site to be seen. My little one loves the class and couldn't wait for each friday to get to class.
