Dr. Fabian Tai & Associates

My mom recently had a minor stroke which caused her to have double vision in the left eye. We got referred to by Dr. Tai through Trillium Hospital as he was one of the optometrists identified to specialize in post-stroke rehab. We are very happy that we did! Dr. Tai did a thorough exam on my mom first, and did something very simple with her eyeglasses which helped her utilize her affected eye more. After a couple of weeks, the results were amazing. My mom's eye has recovered and did not need more treatment after a re-examination by Dr. Tai. We highly recommend anyone who has suffered from stroke to see an optometrist like Dr. Tai who specializes in rehabilitation of the eye using neuroplasticity of the brain.

I discovered Dr. Tai through an episode of the "Broken Brain Podcast", and knew I had to discuss my sons auditory processing difficulties with him to see if vision therapy could be beneficial. Through in-depth testing Dr.Tai and vision therapists , Vivian and Cathleen came up with a therapy plan to strengthen/balance/ and integrate areas of vision that they felt would bring about improvements in overall cognitive functioning. We committed to travelling 3 hours (each way) weekly over a period of 6 months for his sessions. My sons experience with this team has been nothing short of fabulous. We saw consistent improvements in all areas of performance both athletic, and academic. And what surprised and thrilled us even more was the increase in his confidence, decrease in anxiety, and how much resilience he developed. We are so grateful for the efforts of this amazing team.

My 18 year old daughter went from an elite athlete and a High Honour Roll student to a completely non-functioning mess during her grade 12 year. Prior to finding Dr. Tai, I took her to 16 specialists over a period of 1.5 years including a neurologist, cardiologist, chiropractic neurologist, functional medicine specialists, naturopaths, an osteopath, chiropractors, acupuncture specialist, and even a different optometrist specializing in concussions. I kept pushing to find someone who could figure out why her body was in pain overload, why she had constant migraines, why her hormones were completely out of whack, why her memory and processing power was gone, and why she could no longer perform and push hard in her sport. By sheer luck, we were passed on to Dr. Tai who diagnosed my daughter with a concussion. She is about 7 weeks into her vision therapy and the progress has been amazing. Her vocabulary is improving, her migraines are reduced to periodic headaches and I'm finally getting glimpses of my real daughter. Dr. Tai's program is outstanding. He is professional, super knowledgeable and completely committed to helping his patients. The vision therapy program that Vivian provides is also outstanding. She is very experienced, capable, caring and provides wonderful support for her patients. As a family, we're extremely thankful to have found such a wonderful resource to help my daughter regain her health.

We took our son for his first eye exam ever and it was the most wonderful experience! The staff is very warm, inviting and patient. Dr. Fabian Tai was extremely patient with our very curious 5 year old and made some very helpful suggestions for his development with coordination! Highly recommend!

I kept thinking my prescription was changing or my eye sight was worsening but after seeing Dr Tai, he really helped me understand how the body is connected in more ways than we know and it was due to my stress that I kept having focusing issues. Dr Tai is incredible at his job, he is passionate, and no other Optometrist can compare to him. I drive all the way from Durham to see him. THAT is how good he is.
