Longo's Applewood

My wife and I like Longos for sourcing really good food, especially meat and fresh food, for a party. The sticker shock is most evident if you load up on cheeses or better cuts of meat. That said, there is a Longos branded line of different foods that are much cheaper, and the quality is kinda still there. I’ve been both pleasantly surprised and ticked off by sticking to the house brand, but the price is right. The other real advantage to this particular Longos is the incredible range of food. Maybe the Italian traditions that fostered the growth of the chain has lent a Eurocentric slant to the food , but most middle class GTA customers are growing the chain rapidly.
When my wallet is bulging, I head to Longos.

Premium Grocery Store in south Mississauga in the Applewood Village Plaza, with a nice Starbucks. Not as expensive as people complain. There was an old and tired Metro at this location, and this Longo's since 2016 has completely revitalized this open plaza. This is probably one of the biggest and best stocked Longo's grocery store in the Greater Toronto Area. There is a cooked food and wood fired pizza section as you enter and has quickly become popular with local populace and office staff in south Mississauga.
A huge bakery in-house that makes delicious cakes and baked delicacies, including fresh bread.
Besides the fully stocked Starbucks on main floor, there is a sit down and eat area on the mezzanine floor above as well as a small party room that can be rented for a private gathering. Cooking classes in the summer and a full sized deli complete the picture.

This used to be a Metro and was converted to a Longo. Not sure why the drama with Longo over Metro. However, it revived the mall, offered fresh fruits, fresh meat and precooked foods. Parking is very limited. Costco has a lot more parking space than this plaza, waiting for a fight to break out. Maybe the neighborhood is more civil and this should not happen. I was fortunate to get a spot. Could not help noticing a blue Edge circle three the times. There is an upper level among with a Starbucks.

I love this one! It’s always Clean and not too big. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Love the “reduced veggie options “
