A parent DID email the organizer on behalf of our concerns regarding the lack of coaching provided to our boys all season. The email was not written angrily, the coach is a nice kid, we simply were looking for support. Our concerns were dismissed. Every week our boys received no direction, or help navigating the game - some kids had never played before! Simple things like helping them know where the ball should be kicked in from, who should be standing where, telling the the kid who never played goalie he could use his hands... Things you would think kids should learn. Every week the coach from the opposing team would help the kids understand the game and compensate for the lack of voice and direction provided to our team. We also heard from parents that they received emails from their coach about what shirt to wear, or about skills development opportunities, yet we received nothing - just one email at the start of the season and no further communication.
The response from the organizer, which we all saw, was that this is how things should be, "coaches shouldn't be so vocal" and that he would tell the "other coaches to be less vocal!" From having gone all season without coaching, we all had to respectfully disagree.
At the last game, we had Coach Megan step in when our coach was absent, and she was amazing. Within minutes our kids responded to her, and her direction helped them understand the rules and formations. This is the type of coaching we lacked all season and we all wished that she could stay! Thankfully our son still had fun with his peers this summer, but the boys didn't learn anything about the game. When a parent emailed about this, it's disheartening that our concerns were quickly dismissed instead of simply looking into things and offering support. I don't often write reviews, but felt compelled in this situation.
To be fair, and also why I changed my review from 1 to 3 stars, I should also mention that we have another child in soccer with North Mississauga and it's a completely different experience. We just want there to be consistency, and by truly listening and validating parent concerns, this can be possible. This is a poor reflection of customer service.
A really nice area for soccer and fun. They train you to be your best. Professionals at work is describing this area.
Absolutely love this soccer club. We’ve been with the club’s rec league (house)for 8 years and each year gets better and better. Hiring Coach Cormac a few years ago was the best thing to happen to this club. He’s built a technical team of coaches who are knowledgeable, talented and amazing with my children. He has great vision for the club and is solely focused on making the kids’ experience the best! We look forward to being part of the Panther family for years to come. Thank you so much to all the wonderful, dedicated staff (Arielle is amazing) and great coaches. Best club around.
