I give River Glen Haven a 4. The staff and services are a 10 but yes it is a dated building but that doesn't take away from their care. I have spent a lot of time on the second floor with my father that had Alzheimer's. The staff are loving and attentive, they treated my dad so well. The fact of it smelly like urine..yea it happens but before you go and write a bad review based on what?? One visit..educate yourself.
Hats off to all the men and woman that strive and obtain excellence at River Glen Haven.

I have worked here for 10 yrs and yes we do work short like every other home.sometimes it does feel overwhelming but in a whole all of my colleagues I work with are wonderful and work very hard to take care of the elderly. 2nd floor is a Alzheimer's unit and more times then not it is very difficult to engage to get them to comply to brief change which means it sometimes takes time.
We work very hard and care for them like they were our own family. I'm very confident that the care is great building is old but in a whole it is a good place and I have placed my family here and would definitely do it again. 2 thumbs up ladies and gents you all rock

I have visited this home several times. While the other reviews I've read have some valid points, it's important to keep things in perspective here. River Glen is very dated and tired, true. They are in dire need of a new facility, and the staff are extremely over-worked and unappreciated. For those unaware, second floor is the Alzheimer's and Exit-Seeking Patients' ward. While patients there were no doubt dignified, they are now in the clutches of a horrible and debilitating disease. If a loved one is no longer manageable in their own home, and is requiring hands-on daily care, then a nursing home is the alternative. Patients in these circumstances are often incontinent and unfortunately do not have full control over their actions. Caring for one person can be challenging, imagine four or five caring for forty patients at once. Despite the facility's inadequacies , the quality of care at River Glen is very good. The Nursing Team and Housekeeping are very attentive and thorough, and it's a shame that they have to work so hard, often under-staffed, and in an archaic facility.
