I have been a student of Ruth's for nearly twenty years. Why do I still attend her classes? She is a gifted sculptor to begin with and an excellent teacher who encourages, assists when asked, and always displays patience. Ruth circulates amongst her students and can be counted on for her experienced eye for lines and balance.
Her years of experience and beautiful sculptures are a source of inspiration to her students. I heartily recommend Ruth for those new to stone sculpture and those who have sculpted in this medium before.
Working with Ruth and under her guidance has been an absolute pleasure. A very non-structured methodology and approach to stone carving and working with the medium. A relaxed and intimate studio with like minded artists both new and seasoned where you can find nice conversations, great sculptures and a lovely time.
Thank you Ruth!
Ruth’s sculpture is breathtaking! Her elegant and graceful sculptures are wonderful to behold. Ruth works organically, allowing the stone itself to guide her to create beautifully flowing shapes. I am constantly in awe of her talent.
I love Ruth's sculpture class!! I have always loved sculpture and thoroughly enjoy the way Ruth has taught me to look at and work with stone. Ruth is a patient and attentive teacher and a wonderfully inspiring artist. It is always also a pleasure to watch Ruth work and to peruse her home studio and gallery.
I spent a couple of years doing stone carving under Ruth's guidance and with a group of stimulating fellow artists. It was a great experience in slowing down through the medium of stone, under the steady hand of Ruth, and the results were surprising and exciting. Ruth starts you off in limestone and you can progress from there to alabaster. Overall, carving in stone is a very therapeutic, creative experience and the class atmosphere was terrific. Highly recommended.
