I grab a coffee and a bagel here 3-4 days a week as they are located on the bottom floor of my office building. They have good coffee and bagels and even better paninis! I have yet to try the pastries, which is what Janice is most noted for, but I expect it to be nothing short of amazing. Janice is very sweet and doesn't often let me leave without an extra treat, like a cup of fresh fruit. The staff is very fast and always clean and of course they are as kindhearted as JW herself as well. I can't wait to try her cakes too and I will be sure to update my review once I've been able to!
A new place to hang out in north of the city. Went on the weekend to pick a few French pastries. Chef JW is friendly and approachable. You can see her passion and dedication in each piece of artwork. Didn’t get a chance to try their coffee but would love to next time as I was attracted by the sophisticated machine.
As for pastries, I personally love the earl grey mandarin and yuzu mousse, and the cake base is awesome. Price wise, it is on the expensive side yet it worths for the quality you get. Recommend to visit.
Super nice little cafe! Janice is very knowledgeable and helpful if you are unsure of what you want. She is incredibly friendly and warming to talk to. I highly recommend coming here if you love coffee and are looking to try something delicious!
Food: 5 out of 5.Very sophisticated French pastry. Why is it sophisticated, it's the way how Chef have planned and made her pastry. The pastry itself is well balanced, nothing more, and nothing less. If you are just judging the middle part of the pastry, of course it's rich. It's the other thing such as the biscuit underneath the pastry plays a vital role of balance it out. Best part is the after flavor can linger in the mouth for awhile, so it makes you think about it. Their coffee is good , cannot say great. Mind you, I prefer strong and rich coffee flavors. Once you pair up the pastry and the coffee together, it's a perfect match. So the coffee will balance out the rich flavor of the pastry. It's strategically planned.
Ambience: 5 out of 5, decent place, great place having catch up with friends.
Service: 5 out of 5, can't think of anything need to pin point. Great service.
Price: 2.6 out of 5, ain't cheap but it is worth the price. Not much to say.
Overall : 5 out of 5, whatever I need to write about have already mentioned from above. Highly recommend to anyone who loves French patisserie. Only thing I would love to see is expanding their pastries range.
It's so nice to see another French patisserie opened in Richmond Hill! Tried most of their cakes, their butter croissant and latte. Their cakes are nicely decorated and when you cut through the cakes, inside layers are very even. From all the details, you can definitely see the time and the heart the pastry chef put into each of her cake. As for the croissant, I personally still prefer the ones from the other patisserie nearby but theirs are still not bad. The only thing I wish they can improve probably would be their espresso-based drinks as I'm a big coffee person and I am quite picky with my coffee drinks. I usually get pour-over but I saw that they have a really nice machine so I ended up ordering a latte. I found their froth milk was not mixed properly with the espresso so the first sip was sour and the second one was bitter. I think they could execute the drink a bit better given that their espresso machine is more on the higher end. Maybe I'll try their pour-over next time. All in all, it's a nice patisserie with delicious cakes and they just opened this Monday so I'm sure they will improve and they will be very popular! I will recommend this place and I will be back for sure!
