I was pulled over this morning on my way to work - I guess you would call it a "rolling stop" but at the end of the day, if you don't stop .... well, you don't stop. As I was "rolling" through the intersection, a saw the cruiser parked just up the road, to my right. Within a millisecond, I knew I would see the lights flashing, and sure enough, 10 seconds later I did. I promptly pulled over and had license, ownership and insurance ready. For anyone who's ever found themselves in this predicament, you know that wait for Officer Friendly to show up at your window takes forever. When she got there, the officer informed me I ran the stop sign - I countered that I slowed and came to a rolling stop, looked both ways, and then proceeded. Feeble, I know, but I didn't technically blow through the intersection. I could not, nor would I argue the fact that she was right, and sat there as she went back to punch up my data, waiting to take my lumps. Typically, the longer you wait, the bigger the ticket. She returned within 2 minutes and informed me she was letting me off with a warning. There are at least 4 public schools within a 2km radius of my neighbourhood, and the officer informed me that they were cracking down on speeding and aggressive drivers, especially in a residential neighbourhood at that time of the day. My two kids are years out of public school now, so perhaps I'm not as hyper vigilant as I used to be. They are in fact both drivers themselves, now.
Anyway .... I have personal, justified, firsthand and reasonable cause to be distrustful of anyone wearing a police uniform.
So, I'd like to share with you that this Constable, who had the power to throw the book at me (well, the ticket anyway) informed me she was not out to wreck anyone's day, only asked that I be mindful at ALL times, but even more so during this time of the day.
In a time where relations between the community and police services have seen better days, a gesture like this goes a long way in strengthening the bond between community and law enforcement.
I didn't get her name or badge number, but I did thank her and felt compelled to write this review.

I've read all these comments and I was a bit hesitant what to expect from this "infamous" person working at the front desk...
    I was pleasantly surprised.
The lady was very kind and respectful.
When I was all done, I told her that I would give her a 5 star review.
