I have attended this place last year, and even now, I think about the time present at this camp. Why? Because it is a experience of a life time.
Every year, my school individually selects 3 students each year that have proven to have a form of leadership, or need assistance to become one, to attend this place for three full days for free.
To my surprise, I was hand picked by my school to attend this place. Last February. Going forward about three months later in May, there I was, getting driven to this camp. Thinking and worrying about what if im not good enough, or that I would be left alone by other people.
Oh boy, was I ever happy to find out that I was wrong.
In school as a student, I had to (and still do) constantly worry about what to say and do, or risk having a label put on me by other students that spend their time picking on others, because once you have that label put on, it's almost impossible to get rid of it. Because other students wont see you as a person anymore, they will only see that label.
The moment I met the first group of people, which welcomed me with open arms, I knew that this was just the place for me. A place where everyone understands each other, accepts failure, and was there to have fun, for the whole three days. On top of all that, everyone learns valuable leadership skills in all areas, from team work, to distinguishing yourself from your group to shine your personal ability's. By the end of my trip, I made half a dozen friends, some of which I still have contact with today, and a new view point on my future. If I were given the opportunity to go to this live changing camp again, I would defiantly do so, and you should too. 10/10
OELC is a very amazing camp. You will learn a lot of Leadership skills over there. I am going there tomorrow. Very fun!
It's been 4 weeks since my AMAZING trip at the OELC, and I still remember everything about it. Despite the not-so-good-but-enough-to-eat it-tasting food, I had a blast. Sure there were a few ups and downs regarding the accommodations and such, but overall, it got me to know more about my friends than I already do, and I made new friends from the other school.
If there's one thing I have to say about this trip is to spend time with people you don't normally hang around with at school, so you can build stronger friendships with them. And for those of you who already went there, I hope you had as much fun as I did.
My 2 teen boys have been the last 3 summers for 2 weeks, this year they were so excited to go, all the counselors have a great attitude and ability to motivate the group in different activities The atmosphere is almost magical, everybody is so happy and positive. The boys had plenty to eat, never hungry with lots of variety. I read some comments about the cabins, sure the bunks are a little small, no AC, but I never heard one complaint, only endless stories about what happened. This is one of the best things I have done for the boys, I can see it in my sons soccer coaching and school activities.
I had sooooooo much fun and cant wait to go back next year
I just got back 2 days ago from this camp and I can only say that I had the best time of my life with new friends. Truly a life changing experience
