Visited on Saturday after conquering The Crack (lol) and was shocked to see nobody on the waterfront patio on such a beautifully sunny afternoon. I'm vegan and was so happy that there were options for me- I got the veggie sub and a coffee (plant-based milks were available) and some butter tarts to bring home for my mom. Everything was delicious and the staff were very sweet :)
The cafe itself was pretty nice and cozy inside with the full of the yummy baked goods. The coffee was good. But, the customer service provided by the lady was very poor. There were no initiatives of greetings when I came in and left. I was the only customer at that time. The way how she talk to me sounded rude. Not very impressed when you consider the importance of the customer service in this type of business.
Great staff and open early for locals and travellers wanting to get a head start. Simple breakfast menu along with drip coffee or espresso-based (latte, cappuccino etc). Great selection of in-house baked goods like donut fritters and scones. Limited seating during COVID but they also offer take-out.
The food and coffee here are great. The baked goods are especially delicious. Fresh baked cinnamon buns and fritters. We ate here both mornings while we stayed in Killarney.
We got to know most of the staff including the owners, and service was excellent - extremely hospitable - no face-mask nonsense for diners (a HUGE plus), and of course - EXCELLENT quality food with affordable price point (especially considering quality and quantity of food served). Their (high-quality) steak sandwich is highly recommended and easily exceeds numerous other sandwich places in terms of quality and quantity, and they also make and serve excellent breakfasts (eggs made with love). On a dollar-for-dollar and quality basis, you're way better off eating here than at the Lodge (no offence - the Lodge is expensive, that's all) or the fish-and-chips place (questionable portions on price point). The portions here are between sufficient / proper to generous, and it's as close as you're going to get to a proper home-cooked meal in a restaurant. Make this your first choice in terms of dining in Killarney - it's the most affordable and you're guaranteed to have an excellent meal each time.
