I have lived in Toronto as a renter for over 15 years. 75 Halsey Avenue was home for me for over 4 of those years. I NEVER had an issue with this building. They had some mice issues as they are next to a massive park, but that was rectified easily. The building was a HILTON at that time, compared to other apartment buildings in the city.
Affordable rent, quality staff, and proactive management. It is by FAR, the best apartment building in East York, ON. Well worth the investment, despite rental prices increasing (as they were allowed), by Toronto rent control by-laws. Maintenance was looked after, new elevators, and even the WORKING indoor pool was fully renovated for the enjoyment of tenants at 75 and 65 Halsey during my stay.
I literally cried when I had to leave suddenly for personal reasons. Even then, they were open to transferring my lease, so that I wouldn't have to abandon the apartment. At the time, 75 Halsey Ave was owned by Gonte Construction (an amazing landlord in the city of Toronto). They even give people on ODSP a legitimate chance at living in their prime buildings, if you inquire respectfully, as Gonte is owned by a holocaust survivor, and thus believes in a fair chance for tenancy for EVERYONE.
