The East York Civic Centre is here.
There is a Farmer's Market held here (not sure if it is once a week however i see it in the morning hours often). They keep the place very clean & more often than not it's calm, quite, & you can walk not bothered which is surprising as it is a sort of "highway" for people walking to work & school as there's a hospital beside it, & a high-school down the street & people walking dog's. Also you can enter / exit the park going South, North, West, East all with well constructed, grass surrounded, clean walkways.
The Garden is immense near the South / S.West corners, with a smaller garden & some smaller trees surrounding multiple places to sit near the South E side of the park. There is also a gazebo (NorthWest corner) type structure that forms a half circle with brick walls that has flowers on-top & foliage around the walls, connected to one of the large gardens where you can sit.
You can walk around the whole park in 10 - 15mins.
During the fall, the day after Halloween they do a pumpkin walk- you can bring your old jack-o'-lanterns to the park. Whereas people will surround the walkways with the jack-o'-lanterns, giving them one more use, & creating a rare, fleetingly beautiful display.
Also during November, on Remembrance Day they hold a ceremony in honour of the fallen & vets which has local squadrons from Air Cadets, Sea Cadets, Army Cadets ( i was in Air Cadets, as what i remember the cadets meet & form near the highschool down the street) that march over, into the park creating a beautiful display of homage for our Heroes (of past, present, with the future).
Plus in winter, near Christmas time they have a very, very large Christmas tree in the North West side of the park, that they would schedule a lightning for.
Nice fresh things from the Farmers market
The Memorial Gardens Park is a good place, where a national commemoration of Remembrance Day is localized in the East York neighborhood.
Nice
