My grandmother has been at Elim Springs for over 5 months (although she was hospitalized for a month following a stroke in May), while waiting to be transferred to a long care facility. The staff has always been accommodating and friendly, constantly providing updates on my grandmother and conscious/providing of her needs - especially since my grandmother returned from her stroke and needed a more extreme level of care than she previously did (which was relatively largely assisted living care). The facility itself is older, however, clean and easy to navigate. Because it is older, it is not wheelchair accessible (there are no elevators). The facility is locked down, ensuring that all residents are constantly accounted for and does not pose a flight risk for residents with memory issues - to go in and out, visitors need to be accompanied by a staff member (same as independent residents).
Great people. Osanka and Stepan are professional and will try to accommodate with your retirement needs. Great communicators and very emphatic. Full lock down facility. Have plenty of help from placement of post secondary students working towards their psw. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They take time to update you on the patient.
My father spent 2.5 years here before having to go to long term care for advanced dementia. The staff treated him like family and were so kind, patient and caring. As his dementia progressed he became more and more frustrated. Staff went above and beyond researching and signing country classics and talking to him about his grandkids by name. My children still talk about the staff and other residents. This is a small family style facility that I would highly recommend.
My aunt is living at Elim Springs needing help and assistance due to onset on dementia. She is very happy with staff, food, activities. She is well looked after while maintaing her independance. She is always clean, well dressed, she is a also a vegetarian. Residence cook always maikes her favourite foods.
