I very seldom write reviews but i had to in this case. Owning a classic car is an expensive hobby. When repairs are required, and they will be, its important to get quality repairs done right the first time with quality parts by someone with integrity who puts exceptional work ahead of profit. If your fortunate enough to decide to come to Lawrence Transmission, you will quickly understand what i mean. Chris will always go over and beyond with his repairs to ensure the customer drives away as a friend and totally satisfied customer. His knowledge on all aspects of classic cars and his attention to detail is amazing.
My Tbird had many issues including the transmission which is why i came to Lawrence Transmission. I was on a tight budget and Chris not only helped me stay within it but fixed numerous other issues for me without charging me extra which totally floored me. He adjusted my hood latches, carburetor which was set way too rich, exhaust leak and fabricated a rare essential missing part when all i went in for was a transmission rebuild. His integrity and love for the trade will not allow him to let safety issues or gremlins he notices escape without being reported to you and corrected. His open door policy and transparency will remind you over and over that you made the right choice going there. When other MAJOR Auto repair businesses, INCLUDING DEALERSHIPS, send "*THEIR transmission dilemma's*", which THEY have ***tried to repair "SEVERAL TIMES"***, and failed, to a specialty Transmission repair shop, YOU KNOW that shop is NOT just good, but PHENOMENAL!
My 2005 Chevy Blazer, with 225,000 km. on it, lost 4th & 5th gears!
This is *THE ONLY PLACE*, my mechanic buddy, trusts to do ANY TYPE OF: transmission, transfer case, rear end, and drive line repairs!
I took my Blazer to Chris, the owner, who, NOT ONLY, rebuilt my trany, but while "in there, doing the trany repairs necessary", he changed the oil in my transfer case, AND, replaced a few switches, & sensors, KNOWING, that they MIGHT fail, IF they were NOT replaced, THEREBY, preventing FURTHER breakdowns in the VERY near future!
Chris did ALL of this, PUSHING ASIDE, some of his OTHER repairs, BECAUSE HE KNEW, that MY vehicle is being driven daily, AND, that I was without a vehicle!
He fixed my MAJOR TRANSMISSION BREAKDOWN, at a VERY reasonable price, and in JUST UNDER, a week's time!
While my Blazer was there, I saw a FEW OTHER, EXTREMELY rare, and SUPER specialty vehicles in for major work, a "pre 60's era" collector type of car, for which, I'm quite sure NO DEALERSHIP will stock parts, AND, ANOTHER car, which, after the owner's frustrating experience at OTHER shops, TRYING several OTHER "FAILED attempts" to fix problems as related to "TRYING" to transfer outrageously HUGE horsepower to the rear wheels...

Absolutely amazing. Chris knows these old cars like the back of his hand. Very knowledgable.
