Atmosphere:
I went with a friend to Babel on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t crowded and the atmosphere is very nice. Lots of natural light from the skylight. Cute interior design too.
Food:
I ordered veal liver. It came with apricot jam that adds a nice acidic tone that neutralized the meaty, gamy taste of liver. I enjoyed my dish a lot. However, my friend had ordered the fish dish, when the dish arrived she had to check with the server whether she got fish considering the dish is a fried, fish ball. The first impression of the fish dish is...Confusing. I don’t think my friend’s food experience here was as good as mine so I’ll leave a 4 star.
Service:
Slightly slow. Wish the server could walk around a bit more often.
The service is great and the food comes out quickly. My only comment is that the servers used their bare hands to get the lemon wedges for the water which isn't sanitary considering they touch money, credit cards, etc. Which is why give this a 3 star review. (I think many restaurants do this buts different to actually see it for my own eyes and I didn't ask for lemon with anything.) But if I were to rate them for food and service, they would get a 4 star for sure. I came here for the Winterlicious lunch menu and it was really enjoyable! Great value for the cost and good portion size (except for the smoked mackerel....it was a tiny portion and felt like it could have used pita or bread to go with it. Compared to the sizes of the other dishes, it was a bit disappointing, definitely not something that is shareable.) Food was really flavourful and well plated. The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful, great for a gathering with friends and loved ones. I'd definitely come back....I just wouldn't ask for lemon with my drink.
Since this restaurant opened up, it has been busy and bustling ever since. I’ve come here a couple of times, including both for lunch and dinner. The lamp shoulder pita was amazing. The roasted cauliflower is also a great appetizer, it was a huge portion for sure! The mains for dinner was also delicious. Nice ambiance, great service. I will be coming back!
Lunch. Looking to do a meeting here was quite good. The atmosphere was nice and quiet for the most part.
Service was very good and the staff were nice.
Food options were decent and the staff members made some suggestions.
The pita sandwich was underwhelming for a $16 pita with some meat. Add a half cup of soup for $6 i wasnt impressed. Not to mention i asked to make it spicy and another $2 for the hot sauce.
Pita was hard either over toasted and or stale. More vegetables than meat. Hot sauce was good. Soup was tasty.
Flavours are good here. Portions are way to small for the price. I know i am at an O&B restaurant but seriously need be real that this is lunch and Israeli food.
Would have loved to see Turkish coffee as an option for an Israeli Restaurant. That is a staple requirement.
I would suggest sticking to actual dishes that looked better than the sandwiches.
Will give it another try on a dinner at some point.
