Such a beautiful church in North York, Toronto! The character is so beautiful and it's one of my favourite churches in Toronto since St. Benedict's Church. My father grew up 2-4 mins from St. Bernard's. He grew up near Keele & 401.
The church is always open for activities that actively involving youth and the community is really welcoming especially the parish priest and associate pastor
I attended the Passion Play. Even though it was shortened to a bit over an hour it still has to be shorter. The time when it starts should be earlier. Allowing time for the people to have dinner. Specially since young children are attending and or performing. I enjoyed the fact that due to the church being more multicultural now, where as in the past it used to be Italian neighborhood, they now performed the play in the diverse languages. Less people are attending due to the play being exaggeratingly too long. The worse part was that of all the priests in the Parrish only the Indian priest attended for the whole play. At the very end the large priest shows up for five minutes. I found that large priest (in name only) was APPALLING, DISRESPECTFUL to God the parishioners and guests. He chose this profession, at least be a good example and represent the church with dignity and attend the PASSION PLAY. It is after all about God the person you are supposed to follow, worship and represent . We are NOT in the 16th century where people just followed the church and priests like sheep. People are educated and expect a proper decorum to be followed by the church's representative! NOTsit back ( getting fat) by letting others do all the work while you ate and watched TV. That priest should by ashamed of himself. Sadly, he OBVIOUSLY became a priest for the free food and roof over his head. The guests I brought were shocked by his demeanor and self righteousness. Nothing humble about him at all. Then they blame the parishioners for NOT attending Mass on Sundays.?
Beautiful church, visited for the first time with a friend on Easter Sunday for English mass. Close to public transportation. Parking can be busy but it's ok when every one take their time in an orderly manner. I will visit again.
Attended for a funeral mass, very nice church in a good community. It is clean and well maintained, the priest was very well spoken. Overall very impressed.
