I've been shopping at Bernardi's Antiques since the 80's. Their assortment is huge; everything is here, kind of "God's waiting room" . They do not carry any drek. One of the best ? locations in Toronto for great silver: Georg Jensen, Birk's, Gorham, Whiting, Cohr, et.al, all in breadth and depth.
The prices are always fair, they are interested in stock turns and in satisfying their clients. I have found that some antique stores charge inflated and unrealistic prices, geared to the movie rental revenue.
The art of display and the condition of the goods in the store ? are both exemplary. Everything that they sell is ready to use, and enjoy.
Bernardi's does a brisk business, all over the world ? and, at competitive prices.
One doesn't need to go to New York, London or Paris for quality.
Bernardi's Antiques on Mount Pleasant Road - a delight.
High quality antiques with a broad selection... Helpful staff...
Great selection of quality antiques, lighting, china and silver. The service is outstanding from this family run business. Will definitely return.
I had read the reviews, but didn't quite believe them. I've dealt with several antique dealers and have never really been treated well, so I entered this store with some trepidation.
My father-in-law is, sadly, nearing the end. He collected antiques for 40-some-odd years and it is now left upon my wife and myself to somehow unload these pieces in order to pay for his care.
I called the store and got to speak to Dave who asked that I send in pictures of an antique clock, but as I live nearby, I just dropped by with my piece.
Dave met me at the counter with a courteous smile. While looking at my piece, he called over his wife, Laura. I have NEVER met a couple or owner of a retail antique location that has been so honest and forthright. There were no whispered conversations, no private talks between them. They openly discussed the piece, flaws and all. They told me everything they liked and didn't like and let me know what they'd be doing to refresh the piece before sale. Laura actually does it herself!
After doing my research, I knew that my piece wasn't exactly cheap. I had an inkling of what it would get, if in excellent condition. As mine wasn't, I wasn't expecting much. However, they made me a very fair offer, right then and there, which I was happy to accept.
This is now my go-to antique store in Toronto. If you're looking for fine antiques, art, jewelry or furniture, I urge you to check them out. If only for the courteousness with which their clients are treated, I can't sing their praises enough.
Thank you Laura and Dave!
