Everything is so well cooked. The fries are soft but not mushy with that delicate bit of crispiness to them. The batter is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside in perfect balance with the fish.
It being takeout only is important for the flavor. The paper wrapping soaks up the oil while it cools down so after a bit of a walk it is just right.
Someday in the next decade they will probably knock down that whole block and we will lose something irreplaceable.
This is strictly takeout, and a not impressive sight, a family business for half a century. I've been a regular customer for a decade or more, because of the crisply delicate batter.
It ain't pretty but it works
This place is super sketchy and greasy and you'll be slightly queasy but very happy after eating the fish and chips. Portions of fish aren't huge but there's lots of chips and the flavour is authentic. I bet the owner hasn't changed the oil in decades God love him and it helps transform probably poor quality fish into delicious fried battered goodness
The service is great and customer service very nice. The fish and chips are the right size to eat and the right price. Not overly priced. My husband and I finally found a good place to eat fish and chips. You can't eat there but is worth going.
