I love my neighbourhood gym, DS Fitness! Times are tough, and Sabra and Dan have done everything they can to help keep people safe at the gym. Tons of cleaning, only six spots per class and mask wearing is mandatory. It's good to be back and have the human connection and fun with Dan, Sabra and other members.
Perfect atmosphere to train and get fit /stronger. Instructors that give positive critiques to improve long term sustainability. Definitely recommend if you want the personal training effect with team atmosphere.
After almost giving up looking for a kickboxing studio in Toronto, because of all the fluff, inconvenient schedules and overpriced membership fees, I am so grateful to have found DS Fitness!
They had a two weeks free trial for their classes and I figured I'd give it a try. Best decision! Amazing and friendly instructors, positive atmosphere and great workout. It's a lot of fun coming to class.
I have been going to DS Fitness for just about 2 years now. It is run by Dan and Sab (who by the way are the cutest couple ever).
I have enjoyed doing a mix of Personal Training and DSFIT classes (which are like HIIT type classes). I am the strongest I have ever been and as long as I put in the time I see improvement all the time. Dan is a great trainer that seeks to understand what your goals are and helps you get there. Dan creates new workouts and programs every week so you are never doing the same thing and don’t get bored. Dan’s style is firm but gentle (I don’t think I have every heard him yell) … so if you are looking for the exact opposite of a drill sergeant, Dan’s your guy. If you are doing personal training, you have the entire place to yourself - so if you are a little shy and don’t want to work out in front of others, this is a great option. If you live in the Yonge/Lawrence area, they are right under (yep under) the Starbucks. They have great introduction pricing for both personal training and free trial of classes. You never have lock into any annual plan.. there is no high pressure sales here. They also have a great kids kickboxing after school class. Highly recommend DS Fitness for anyone close by.
Not sure why I put off trying their classes for so long, I really enjoy it. So very glad I finally got up the motivation to try. Dan incorporates many different exercise circuits so you never get bored. Classes are fun and the hour flies by. It's great for beginners like myself as he adjusts for your fitness level and/or injuries. For the first time I don't dread going to a fitness class. Next to try the their Barre class.
