I went here in the early to mid 90's. They had a small school to help you get your diploma, which I attended, and there was also social activities.
I have read some bad recent reviews of this place made recently due to fisticuffs, but I think that has more to do with the generation of young women that are there now and not the institution. When I went there, all the girls were great and I had nothing but a rewarding time there - and got to finish high school while being able to excuse myself to breastfeed my baby whenever needed and 25 years later, I still have 2 great friends that I made in this place. Perfect situation. And the staff were genuinely concerned with us.
I am so thankful for everything I received from the institution.
So as I said, the problem lies more with the current generation of young people. Just like, in the '90s the entertainment district was safe (the club district). Now-a-days, there are shootings or 3 guys beating one guy to death type of thing.
So don't blame Jessie's, blame my generation of mothers (gen X) who raised the current generation of brats.
Thank you for helping me during pregnancy!
My daughter finish her schooling there, she has matured into a good mother for her son and make me and husband proud parents.
Truly helpful when it's really needed the most. Donations actually go to the moms, babies and kids. It's a very nurturing and family oriented environment. I truly highly recommend them.
