Love this parish and the parishioners.
Father Maderak gives great Christ centred Homilies and is an asset to this parish. I always feel welcome and at home when attending Mass.
Peaceful and cute chapel
This facility has not changed much, notwithstanding the construction of the new school next door (class of '81). Monday morning mass was led by a (very likable and approachable) brethren as the parish priest is off on Mondays. I've given it five stars because it has preserved the height of Catholic Church fashion from the 70s so unapologetically.
This Roman Catholic church serves the Weston/Lawrence area. I moved to this parish 5 years ago and was delighted to find that my neighbourhood church was small and intimate. The congregation is predominantly Italian but it has begun to evolve as the population in the area becomes more diverse. Through groups like the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Women's League, a great deal of community work gets done quietly behind the scenes through community suppers, the WAES food bank, and homes for the aged. There are 2 masses on Sundays (9 and 11) and 1 mass per day Monday through Saturday. Teenaged volunteers like Essie and Mary Ann are familiar faces in the lobby of the church on weekends and really help to create a sense of family. Parking can be a bit tricky, especially with the construction of the school next door... but that's only temporary. I have come to feel a real sense of belonging at St. John the Evangelist. It truly is a small parish with a big heart!
