Don't be fooled by the fancy trucks!
We recently had our bathroom completely gutted and renovated by Westmount Craftsmen.
We chose them based on their great reviews and Steve seeming knowledgeable and professional when he quoted the job.
We were told the Reno would take 2-3 weeks, plus a few days extra for the custom shower glass we wanted.
They were off to a great start, the demo was done within a day. During the drywall phase things started to slow down and we realized that the crew assigned to our job was pretty inexperienced and spent more time fixing mistakes, than getting ahead.|There appeared to be a general lack of guidance.
After the tiling had been completed, we noticed chipped tiles, crooked tiles, and a shower base with a squeek...Steve promptly had them re-build the whole thing and handled it well, although we believe that this was a mistake that just should not have happened when you hire a professional contractor.
It took another 3 times to finally fix all the issues with the crooked tiles, and Collin, called my husband "picky". We have waited 20 years for this Reno, and we spent over 35000 dollars, so yes, we wanted things done right.
(Their electrical and plumbing sub-contractors were outstanding)
We found that the Westmount workers were mostly working unsupervised and Steve stopped in only occasionally, usually when there were things to be fixed.
Even when the final coats of paint were being applied, they were still fixing drywall faux-pas.
They use a lot of caulking and filler, instead of precision.
In the end, we have learned a lot about choosing a contractor, what questions to ask, and what to get in writing.
The job ended up taking a full 6 weeks, with another weeks' wait for the glass.
Steve offered a walk-through and touch-ups, but we politely declined, knowing we could do the minor touch-ups better ourselves.
Finesse and craftsmanship is not their strength.
We are planning to renovate our kitchen in the future and would not choose Westmount Craftsmen again, or recommend them to anyone else looking for high quality work.
We just finished a renovation (addition out the back of our house, and new kitchen, front hallway and bathroom) by Westmount Craftsmen. We love the way it turned out and are so happy we chose Westmount. The whole process from start to finish was well communicated to us, and we found them very reliable. The site manager, Robert, was professional, knowledgeable, conscientious, and trustworthy. All the employees were personable and respectful of our house and our space. I was most impressed by the way they handled any little issues that came up and dealt with them strait away and made sure we were satisfied. Collin was fantastic in this way, and it made a huge difference to our experience. Westmount was also great in the way they communicated and worked with the decorators, and the company that built and installed our kitchen cabinets. This made the whole process run smoothly. Our project was on budget (also we added a few things), on time, and it looks beautiful! We would highly recommend Westmount Craftsmen
Last year, Westmount Craftsmen did a major renovation on our back split. Almost all the levels of the house where touched. They did such a great and professional job that we called them back to renovate the main bathroom. They helped us source some of the pieces and order them. They make a big effort in communicating the day to day activities and answer any concerns/questions we have. They listen and worked us . I would highly recommend Westmount Craftsmen.
We are happy with our bathroom renovation by Westmount Craftsmen! Steve was very easy to communicate with throughout the whole process, from getting a quote to following up after all the main work was done. The guys who did our work were personable and respectful. We felt comfortable leaving our home in their hands. Every renovation comes with some little issues, but they made sure we were satisfied with everything. Their pricing was reasonable, and they would have stayed on budget if we didn’t choose some upgraded fixtures. Choose Westmount Craftsmen if you want a company with integrity.
Job: Windows installation in the basement; Jan 2018.
Steve and his team from Westmount Craftsmen were incredible! To begin with, Steve came in to do a quote to replace my basement windows. He was very professional, personable and most importantly provided a very competitive price for the work involved. His team was absolutely great. They were timely, efficient, nice and clean. Within two days my nightmare windows were replaced. The gentleman who did the final step (seal from the outside) was particularly nice about having to crawl underneath my porch! Thanks for clearing up that garbage underneath the porch! I 100% recommend Steve and his team at Westmount Craftsmen.
