The Dog Haus

I have used many of the services from the DogHaus. From the high quality dog food that they sell, to the wonderful groomer Kirsty, I love everything about the experience.

I have taken training classes with Liz, Claire, and Melissa and must say I have grown in my relationship with both of my dogs because of them. They are game changers in establishing the best relationship with your dog(s) and have helped in all of the difficult parts that we needed to overcome along the way. I’ve learned more from these wonderful pack leaders, I can only wish more dog owners could see their potential through my eyes after having been through the last 18 months of this amazing evolution. I have before and after videos that will refer back to: the growth is unreal. I can’t send enough praise to everything that we have learned.

The social club. A-MAZING. Have you seen napchat? Birthday parties? Pool parties? St Patty’s day photos? Remembrance Day celebrations? My dogs have gained so much confidence because of this place.

Next, the community. This group of like-minded dog owners are second to none. They are all humble and supportive; understanding that this relationship with your dog is a life long journey of learning. They help you work through any struggles that you are having with your dog, practice any and all drills, and they cheer hard for all of your victories. They see you and know how far you have come. They are your tribe.

Last, the staff. I challenge you to find a better team of pack leaders. Liz has been incredibly patient and always has tips and tricks. If one tip doesn’t work, she has ten more where that came from. Every single pack leader would help you with anything you ever needed. They always put the dogs first: the dog’s safety and the safety of the pack. They love your dog *almost* as much as you love your dog. True story.

Some of my most favourite things that I’ve learned is this. Always do your best. Put in the work. Show up for yourself and your dog. When you know better, do better. And most importantly: no touch, no talk, no eye contact.

We took the Online Training Essentials course in January 2021. To be honest we were a little skeptical of the online offering (as this is our first dog, and we got her during a pandemic) and were unsure if we would get the guidance and direction needed to fully grasp the training material from home. From the start Liz was super responsive to emails and helped reduce our skepticism, noting that it was her job to train us on how to train our dog, and that in the end we would need to put in the work and in turn reap the rewards :)
The course itself was super informative... from the theory around Dog Psychology, to the practical applications of the slip lead, place/crating, protecting resources (i could go on!). While we know we still have a ways to go in our training journey, it's incredible to see JUST how far we have come in 5 short weeks. We have learned so much about Roxy, and even more about ourselves in this process and are very excited and determined to continue on. As the great Liz Foley once said... its a lifestyle, not a diet! This place, it’s people, and it’s community has changed our relationship with our dog, and given us the tools to understand what he needs to be a good boy. Understanding the inner workings of how a dog perceives the world (our world) will give you clarity on how they feel, act, and re-act in any situation. The fundamentals of dog psychology will show you how you can improve yourself to better show up for you dog. This is at the heart of The Dog Haus philosophy. And I am here for it.

My wife and I got a German Shepherd puppy in June of 2020. We had heard that Doghaus Waterloo was a fantastic place for puppy training and to learn about a calm training philosophy. They have fully exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t be happier that we have begun this relationship with them! They make you and your dog feel like family and they are so great at what they do! Their Puppy Essentials course was so key in providing us with the right mindset and strategies to raise our puppy! We are so grateful for everything the Doghaus has done for us! They are amazing at responding to all of our questions in person or through email, and they helped us understand a healthy diet and amount of exercise specific to our breed! ALL of their staff have been incredibly helpful, professional and inspiring! Thank you again for everything ALL of you do Doghaus Waterloo - we look forward to continuing this educational and exciting relationship we have started!
