LatchedOn Paediatric and Breastfeeding Services

I was referred to Tara after a breastfeeding appointment with Waterloo Public Health and was pleased to find out her in office services are covered under OHIP. I emailed her office and was contacted shortly thereafter to book an appointment. I scheduled for the following day, although they had openings same day. The patient forms were emailed to me to fill out online before my arrival which helped streamline the intake process.

Their office on Belmont in Kitchener is easy to find with parking out front and nearby. During my first visit, Tara asked me why I was there (issues latching) and asked me to breastfeed so that she could assess our challenges. She was able to quickly see that my little one had a lip tie and a tongue tie, both if which I elected to have snipped during that appointment. It was a very quick procedure and done with care and compassion.

I appreciated that I didnt feel pressured to have these ties snipped, yet was able to have it done and didn't need to wait an book another appointment. As a frustrated first time mom who really wanted to breastfeed, I was able to choose to move forward which helped me make progress much more quickly.

After the procedure, Tara had me try feeding again. She gave me advice, explained what to do and answered my many questions. Her calm vibe and encouragement along with explaining what to do made me feel supported and empowered. I took this information and was able to practice and replicate feeding at home. I had some successes and continued to have challenges, so I returned another two times for help. These follow ups were easy to book, I learned more each time and within a week was successfully breastfeeding.

Tara cares about what she does and has compassion for her clients. I highly recommend her services!

Tara was amazing both in her knowledge and expertise and in her bedside manner. She helped fix our son’s tongue tie and he instantly latched like a pro. Tara also does home visits.
