For the most part, we are very happy with the craftsmanship of our Tice home. But the kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. We chose not to invest much of our upgrade in the kitchen because we have a goal to replace it with a dream kitchen someday. However, we did not anticipate needing to repair so much of our kitchen only 5 years into owning this home. I realise that the kitchen installation is contracted out but this is seriously so budget that it's sad. The cupboards constantly need adjusting so that they align when closed, the island is currently up on its top because after simply leaning on it the other night, the bottom of it actually gave out and the cheap chipboard broke apart leaving the entire island unsafe. Also, the steam from the coffee maker has stained the cabinets. Coffee maker steam! We can't even make coffee in our kitchen without strategy to ensure our cupboards don't stain further. The seams in the counter have continued to bubble - not even from standing water but just general kitchen cleaning.
We are not alone or irresponsible people; we use our kitchen like normal people do and it is the least durable kitchen ever. My husband installed an IKEA kitchen in our last house and it was more durable and dependable then this one.
So I just think Tice could have maybe alotted for a more generous budget when completing these kitchens. They are used by families - they need to be able to be used with dependability.
Additionally, our furnace has now broken down twice in one month. We also learned that despite living in a 5 year old house, our furnace is 8 years old.
And finally, would it have killed them to install a freaking shelf in an entirely tiled in the master bathroom shower? Where the heck do you put your soap and shampoo? And it's not like you can install one easily after - the shower is completely tiled!! Just one shelf...
The house is sturdy and we love the layout and size. But the kitchen is a crucial part of the house and Tice River, you failed to consider how to better serve your customers with one that would be more durable.
We purchased our Tice River Home over two years ago and still love our home as much as the day we moved in! Excellent quality in a perfect location! I would highly recommend this builder to anyone.
I purchased my house in April 2012, and had Margaret as a Sales Rep. She was VERY good at explaining all the options we could have in a new home and which are upgrades and which come with the home. She was respectful with our budget, and did not try to oversell the place so we would be coming in over budget. I find that way too many people these days expect too much from a builders with respect to getting "deals" so then when they are explaining that they cannot give them, they already have their backs up from the beginning. With respect the deposits - she does help you out by explaining that you should put the deposit down early so other people can come and claim your lot... She is not by any means trying to PUSH you into a deal. They do not cash these deposits, you get them back when you actually go ahead with the deal and prepare the agreement. Once it is firm, you deposit your cheques. I do not agree with the comments about her being "pushy" as she is trying to help the home owner in the end, and is willing to do what she can to HELP you get the home of your dreams. She is always willing to come in early with people to pick colours, and stay late when people show up at 7:30pm on a weeknight. These homes are very affordable in this area, and I would recommend purchasing a home through Tice River, as for us, we will be building another in the future!
My husband and I recently bought a new home from Tice River Homes. This was our first brand new home purchase and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. The customer service has been top notch. Margaret Wood, Sales Rep was very helpful, knowledgable and went out of her way to meet with us outside of her normal work hours to assist us through the purchase process. This outstanding service continued with Margaret throughout the selection process. We were just as impressed with the service and attention we received from Tony, Site Manager. He patiently answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns in a timely fashion. We love our Tice River Home!
