Bought bread and a variety of baked goods here. The bread was good, buns were decent, but the croissants tasted like they were from a grocery store. I wish they either didn't sell them or they warn customers about the quality, instead of being hit-or-miss.
Unique German Bakery. Specializes in Pretzels, German buns and Bread. They distribute through major grocery chains for their bread, and have a stall in the St. Jacob's market also. The pretzels are traditionally German, as are the buns. They also supply the pretzels for Octoberfest lunch in Waterloo. The staff is friendly, the store bright and clean, the baked goods excellent. Overall a good bakery.
Thank you so much for all the Easter treats! Our kids were so excited about the bunny Easter buns, and challah bread will be enjoyed tomorrow morning as a french toast bake. Thank you for these fresh baked goods at this uncertain time. Comfort food!
Happy Easter!
The Greatharvest Bread House is a gem of a bakery. It's a perfect place to pick up a fresh loaf of bread, or some croissants, or some deliciously calorie-laden pastries that you tell yourself you don't want, but you're going to get anyway. They also have a nice selection of gluten free products for the people who need such things. All in all, however it's just an amazingly friendly, and an amazingly good place. Oh, and it's the official pretzel making place for Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. Did I mention they have great pretzels? Hmmm, pretzels!
I have been getting breads, buns, pretzels from here basically my whole life and everything is sooooo good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Everything is always fresh. Key tips' don't store in brown paper bag but put in a plastic bag. Also good to freeze and pull out when needed and stays fresh.
