Banbury Farm

I've been riding there for a while now... absolutely love the experiences! Gorgeous, well-trained horses, thorough and proper instruction, and a low-key, friendly atmosphere... the facilities are so beautiful!

A small, beginner cross-country course, also, a spacious outdoor hunter/jumper ring is a definitive asset. There are acres of hilly back fields for hacking as well as growing crops, and are a lovely place to end lessons, as you can see the entire farm, as well as the land around it from the top. Their horses are ideal lesson horses. The beginner horses are absolute angels, the horses for the upper level riders are all talented jumpers and can also be used for dressage, should you not want to pursue jumping. They have a couple of lovely show horses for the competitive rider as well.

The more advanced riders teach beginner lessons, and help out with the horse camps. The camps are ideal for the rider who wants a summer camp experience with all the fixings, but doesn't have the time to spend an entire day in the barn. The lessons at camp are always fun, safe and detailed, and sometimes the campers are taken (with a lead line if need be) on a little tour of the back fields on horseback afterwards.

Sarah Banbury is experienced in many disciplines, and definitely knows her stuff. If you are thinking of taking lessons instead of camp, be advised, they're not for the once a month/year rider, as she teaches actual lessons instead of just letting you plod around. If you're committed to learning to ride, though, then this is the place for you!
