By The River Bakery & Cafe

This was a wonderful stopping place in Hunter River. Good ice cream and blueberry pie overlooking the river. Robbin gave us the best local travel tips while in the area. We also were lucky to get some of their handpicked wild chanterelle mushrooms. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stopped in to get out of the morning's rain. What a cozy island treasure! We sat in the back overlooking the river, what a beautiful view. We ordered a basic breakfast with sausage and tea. It was yummy. On the way out I grabbed some ginger molasses cookies - phenomenal!
If you are looking for a cozy book with great views and delicious food you need to stop by and don't forget to grab a cookie!

Exceptional service. We were a party of 5 and were seated and cared for by staff immediately; our breakfast orders taken and food prepared in no time.

Staff was incredibly friendly, coming from Ottawa, it was a surreal experience being in the company of restaurant staff who actually excel at customer service; they felt like old friends!

Food was delicious, everything made at the location, proteins brought in fresh on island.

The only negative I can think of is I wish I could have spent more time talking up the cook, he was awesome!

Everyone loved the food, service and venue, and this will forever remain a glowing memory on the island for us.

Loved this place! Staff were super nice. Food was delicious and prices were great! We saw an eagle diving for breakfast while we had our own breakfast! The decor is very quaint with island folk art. 👌 Baked good on site- what a bonus!
