A small hole in the wall with some of the best food I've had in YEARS. It's now on my list of "must stop" places when I visit PEI.
Backwoods Burger had been on my list of places to discover on PEI especially Upwest. First suggestion, take the main exxit from Rte 2 to discover this place. Hubby wanted to take the "direct" route which appeared to be Rte 169. Stop. We didn't. Turned out to be a real Red Dirt Road on the Island. Oh well, it was a dry day....
We found this hidden gem at the main intersection. Older building with lots of history. Very comfortable setting. We got there after the prime time, 1:30 or so.
Server was friendly and attentive. The place appeared clean and kept up. We ordered an appetizer to enjoy while waiting. (No local beers were available) . The 2 girls ordered fish taco with fries. Fries were delicious, the fish taco - plain.
Both fellas ordered one of many named burgers. Boy we picked wrong. They live up to their reputation for best burger around. It is worth the drive to Backwoods Burger.
Great place, food was amazing, reasonably priced. They just made a slight mistake on our dipping sauces, and forgot to give us one, not a big deal. Definitely recommend
A great place for burgers and beer. They serve local Moth Lane Brewery beer. The fish and chips and fried clams are also very good. They had live music until 3pm. This was a perfect spot for an overcast Saturday afternoon with friends or family. Reservations Recommended, the locals like it too.
Super cozy, local restaurant that you MUST try if you're in the area! We tried the Meatless Wonder, the Spin Dip + Spin Dip Fries, as well as the Onion Ring Tower (damn, she BIG). Great service, and nice comfy atmosphere that made me feel like I was eating at a friend's house. Will be going back next time I'm up in that end of the island to try more things on the menu.
