I have been living in Montreal, Quebec for almost a year now with my fiancé who is a student at The Desgraff Institute. Though I do not attend the school myself, I have been so personally impacted by the school's director and teachers in such a positive manner that I felt it necessary to comment on it. As an immigrant in Canada, I am not under any health insurance and I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia which can cause me to be incapacitated and debilitated for long periods of time and my only family here to take care of me is my fiancé who has to be at school for most of the days of the week. When my fiancé presented the issue we were facing, me being alone and unable to care for myself and him being at school away from me, the director of the institute offered many solutions to help us and as time went on, even the teachers began to help us in our difficult situation. The director of the school offered to allow me to be present in my fiancé's class where I would have a couch to lay on and be able to always be looked after by my fiancé, should I need any help throughout the day while I am there and the teacher's of my fiancé's class allowed him to do his research work from home so that he would be able to stay with me and take care of me for longer periods of time.
Though I am not personally a student at this school it is abundantly clear to me that the director and teachers of Desgraff go above and beyond what any normal/government ran school would do. The director helped my fiancé find us an apartment when we needed to move quickly earlier in the year and he also helped my fiancé appraise his vehicle and sell it so he could get a more reliable and affordable car. Now, with the school year coming close to an end, the teachers are calling companies to ensure my fiancé and other students know what these companies are looking for when they submit applications and go in to interviews. There really is no end to the kindness and graciousness of the staff at this school and it should NOT be overlooked due to one person's bad experience.
I have never seen a more personalized and courteous staff and school. Everything the director and teachers do is to benefit their students in their academic, professional AND personal lives! I would recommend this school to anyone looking to enter this career field because I have consistently been amazed at how much this school has done for me and I am just the fiancée of a student there!
If there is one thing to be learned from the Internet, it's that you should NOT believe everything you read. If this school interests you, I strongly encourage you to visit and meet the director personally and you will see that this school is an amazing academy that should not be passed by without a second glance just because someone made a dozen fake accounts on Google and created a smear campaign. This amazing school and the amazing people who run it deserve to finally have the truth put out there because what they do goes miles beyond what any other school would offer a student. Make an appointment and visit this school and I promise you will not be disappointed.
I never would have found my love for video game development if it wasn't for the 3D art and animation courses at Desgraff. It was the first time I really enjoyed school as I was learning what I was passionate about.
Awesome, funny and helpful teachers and staff. They guide you well after your diploma so you can have all the tools that you need to find your dream job. Would recommend!
