Beautiful spot
I like going to this ZEC for the beautiful network of hiking trails, but all the credit actually goes to the Charlevoix crossing non-profit organization, which maintains the trails.
What I dislike is that the ZEC charges a $ 12 entry fee for driving there. In return, we get the right to ride on a completely smashed 4km path. The more the years go by, the more the path deteriorates. It becomes downright dangerous to drive there in a normal automobile, it takes a 4x4. You don't expect a nice asphalt road, but at $ 12 per pass, you'd like the skyscraper to at least pass every now and then.
In comparison, in the Zec du lac au sable, the road to Mount Élie is nearly 50 km and is perfectly passable from the reception station to the parking lot.
Good staring point for your adventure, very helpful staff, but it was pretty slow on the weekend, lineup for about 30 minutes to pay the fees and get the map. I wish they would have some faster options for people who needs only to pay. The trails are great, the views are worth the hike, plan to spend a day to enjoy it.
Courteous and knowledgeable staff
At km 26-27, an incomparable welcome giving access to nearly 200 km of trails (ZEC and Traversée Chrlevoix). A must for hiking in Charlevoix. Alouette Mountains, Dome, Eudore-Fortin, St-Michel, Dufour etc ...
