Patate Rouge

I had the poutine, hot dogs and a club sandwich. All tasted good and they had a nice out door seating area to enjoy it.

I love Patate Rouge. This little restaurant is unassuming neighborhood champion of everything good in the world. If I had to choose one restaurant to be my one restaurant in an apocalypse, this would be it. Patate Rouge is an un disturbed oasis of flavor. I know it sounds cheesy (no pun intended) but you can taste the quality. One of the best poutines I’ve ever had. The cheeseburger is well balanced, hearty, grilled to perfection. The burger is so good, it made me second guess myself from ordering from one of my all time favorite root beer slinging burgeries, but that’s beside the point. Let’s focus on Patate Rouge. For some reason, the moniker makes total sense to me when I first held their poutine in my hands. The fries look strikingly red, and the curds and the gravy do this dish justice. Before sounding too long winded, let me close with the steamie boys and the grilly boy. I’m a Texan, and the Montreal steamie boys are the mark of a true champion. I had my best casse-croûte experience of my life on tour with my wife in Bae Saint-Paul, but this place compares very close to that experience. This (big) little casse-croûte, Patate Rouge, has capture the spirit and heart of québécois culture, taste, and charm. I am proud to call myself a resident of Quebec & if you are looking for a casse-croûte experience close to home, this is your Xanadu. Sit back relax, crack open a Pepsi and let the steamie dogs transport you back to a simpler time in life, a time where the Expos filled the hearts and minds of the summer crusader, and a time when only a true Montreal casse-croûte could fill that insatiable hunger for life.

Great! Cute place! NOTE: as of October 2019 Google lists breakfast all day and this is not correct. There are about 10 parking spots in the lot.

Good smoke meat sandwichs and the Breakfasts are super good and very cheap.
