Words can’t express the gratitude I have for Andy’s house. The program offered by the house allowed me to see myself for who I truly am and showed me how to grow as a person physically, mentally and spiritually. The staff is so loving and professional they make you feel at home the whole time. It was hard at first to go into the house thinking about the 90 days, but at the end of it I didn’t want to leave. I am forever grateful to Andy’s house for saving my life.
Before I came to Andys I had been through 5 rehabs gotten arrested and ended up in hospitals as a result of my using I had lost complete control of my life and my mind and was lost scared and depressed but through the time I spent at Andys the staff the groups and the one on one therapy brought me back on my feet today I have my life back and am no longer a slave to drugs and still come back to Andys due to the open door policy for ex residents and help the people at Andys still getting their life together as well as the weekly aftercare and groups Andys saved my life and am forever grateful for the time I spent there.
In December 2017, I did a one-day placement at Andy’s House while working as a yoga teacher. My formal training as a teacher was based on a therapeutic approach to healing therefore when I looked to expand my knowledge into the world of addictions recovery, Andy’s House was a natural first choice. Their philosophy on recovery was something I felt I aligned with and could truly learn from.
Upon arrival, I was given a tour of the House and personally introduced to all the staff and residents. I was also given a brief description on the principles and philosophy behind Andy’s House and what they aim to achieve in their recovery process. Naturally, I immediately felt so welcome and included by everyone in the House. The director as well as the staff were incredibly accommodating to me and eager to answer all of my burning questions. It was evident to me within the first hour that compassion, inclusion, and the individual journey of each resident was of vital importance to the staff.
During my placement I was privileged to be able to participate in the yoga class held regularly for the residents. As a visitor, I was encouraged to participate along with the residents rather than just observe. By doing so, it taught me a great deal in terms of learning the methodology and technical approach to teaching mindfulness and body awareness to not only beginners, but more importantly in the setting of recovery.
Overall, my experience at Andy’s House was unparalleled and eye-opening. I took away so many helpful tips and suggestions on how to help my own potential students who might be dealing with addiction in their own life, whether it be personally or with a family or friend. I cannot thank Andy’s House enough for all of their guidance and commend them on their admirable work.
I struggled with addiction since the age of 14 at 19 my life was unmanageable I lost one of my best friends due to a drug overdose and shortly after I check in the hospital for 10 days because of a drug induced psychosis I never thought I could go a day without using drugs or alcohol and today because of Andys house I am 15 months sober.i have friends who decided to go public and I could tell you that not one of them is sober.if you are ready to go any length to stop using and have given up all hope check in to this rehab center you will get all the help you need and then be able to come back and give it to another struggling addict.
ANDYS HOUSE SAVE MY LIFE
You will never find a treatment centre as special as Andy’s house. I have been to many treatment centres throughout the years and have found that the love and genuine desire to help people transcends any other treatment centre I have been too. The staff at Andy’s house really make this place what it is and the amount of graitude I have for the tools and structure I have gotten can never be repayed. If you have someone that is struggling with addiction Andy’s house and the people that work there will do everything in their power to help them. Andy’s house has not given up on me and has and will always have a very special place in my heart.
