Having Mme Nathalie McKenzie as my lawyer was the best investment I made during my separation.
I clearly didn't know enough about the law for separation/divorce in Quebec and so many individuals around me thought they did, but everyone is different so I received a whirlwind of well-intentioned information I just didn't need.
Like most people, new to divorce proceedings, I had no idea where to turn to, where to go, and didn't want to be financially screwed. I was lucky that a good friend of mine had her as their lawyer for their divorce and gave me her contact with high regards.

Key points to note:

1) Nathalie was on-point with EVERYTHING.
a) if she said I'm entitled to "X", I was entitled to "X".
b) If there was something that my ex's lawyer would say would be valid in court which wasn't; she made it clear that it was inadmissible.

2) Going through this was quite difficult and emotional, but I was able to text or call Nathalie to let her know what was going on when I would panic and, 100% of the time, she would let me know the laws and the fact that my ex couldn't change that (nor could his lawyer).

3) During the course of the separation, when I felt threatened or rushed by the other party, Nathalie always stood her ground and focused not on the, at times, threatening time frames but on diplomacy and peacemaking between my ex and I. At times, I felt as though my ex was no longer listening to his lawyer but following Nathalie's sense in reasoning - and that is saying a lot - especially during our separation.

If you're just up for fighting with your ex and trying to claim as much out of the divorce as possible, maybe Nathalie isn't the lawyer you're looking for; however, this experience has taught me that you don't have to have the most aggressive lawyer to get what is fair, you just have to have an intelligent one that knows the laws extremely well - that is 100% Nathalie.
I'm forever grateful for her services.

Nathalie helped my now previous partner and I through a very difficult time; a separation and eventual divorce. She was extremely professional, compassionate and courteous throughout the mediation process and helped us to come to a positive resolution for all parties.
