This is a great little dog park, plenty of benches, a couple of picnic tables, shade. Lots of friendly dogs and owners. :)
It has electronic gate so people without montreal west dog permits cannot enter, i.e. people with non vaccinated dogs or who think $50 is an outrage for a well maintained very large fairly clean and safe place for dogs to run about. That is debatable given the crazy city tax we already pay for very little, but its like that and I guess it is well looked after. Notice I say dog permits... people who dont pay $250 a week city tax who live in better administered boroughs can also join.. so its not exclusive.
Its like the silly outdoor heated pool, cost to residents, $2, cost to non residents a whopping $2.50. I guess we subsidise others.
The thing that irks me is right now it is closed for regrassing, grass that will be ripped to shreds in a few weeks, by dogs who like digging and ripping stuff, it is closed for over a month! Given months you don't need gloves on are May-Sept, closing it for the whole of May is nasty, 20% cut in usability making any value less value.
I've been in a few dog parks, this is the best I have been to. As Montreal West is decidedly average in terms of facilities, maybe they could strive for excellence just once and make the mother of all dog parks..., my humble suggestion is a water park for dogs be installed. Oh wait, theres no committee for that with 3 years to bounce the idea about before throwing it out.
Beautiful park well maintained, limited access for dog owners only
Great dog park for locals. Must have a membership key card to enter. It's not a public dog park
