Good selection - but depending on the knowledge of the salesperson, you could have a great or not-great experience. One person in December helped us make an excellent choice on 2 pairs of Merrell winter boots for Snow-shoeing. We went back looking for her, but someone else was on duty in April and she was of no help in choosing 2 pairs of North Star Hiking boots that turned out to be a very poor (and expensive) choice. The tightness was not in fact tying the laces too tight - the boots "upper" is fixed, and the sales person did not know the fit or even anything beyond the price. It felt fine in the store, but unfortunately I can't wear them.
