I loved my visit to this village, for the end of the family vacation! Everything was there to spend a stay there, even if I did not come for mountain biking or fishing. The Mékinac solidarity cooperative is of capital importance. But it must be said that the cellular network is not at the top, hihihi !!!
Saint-Joseph-de-Mékinac is a small village, far from main roads, in a small agricultural valley in the mountains with the Mékinac river which crosses it as well as a small river (creek), the Bouchard brook. It serves as a supply point for food and fuel with its Coop and also has 2 restaurants for the people of Lake Mékinac, Lake of the Missionary and a multitude of small lakes. The area has many ATV and snowmobile trails as well as horses for horse riding. The village is well maintained and clean and it is nice to walk there. In the surroundings there are a few campsites and a magnificent belvedere at Lake Mékinac, called Cap-Rouge, which allows you to admire the splendor of this very deep lake with gigantic cliffs similar to those of the Saguenay River. To get there you have to follow the path of Lake Mékinac, the path can be quite rough just before the belvedere.
