Very good and cute hotel, excellent service and food, owner is very friendly .
Excellent value! Great food, great accommodations, great hosts - in a beautiful location. Gerald and his team provide a wonderful place to call home when you're away from your home.
We had the loveliest lunch at A la Claire Fontaine, having stumbled upon their restaurant on a short day trip to Canada (from Northern Vermont). The chef-server hosts were very gracious, and the food was fresh, expertly prepared, and well-presented. I chose the bagel and lox (partially on the server's suggestion). If you view the menu online, you may not realize this: the lunch entrees, at $10-$12 CD, include soup (homemade and very good) or salad, dessert, and coffee. Our plans for a light lunch turned into a feast (I fear we were gluttonous). I had a lovely fresh green salad; the bagel and lox (an extravagant, fresh, picturesque version thereof!) which was unexpectedly accompanied with an excellent warm bean salad; coffee; and homemade créme brulee. We rarely dine out locally because of low food quality and conversely high prices, so it was really a treat to experience exactly the opposite. This restaurant/B&B is on Stanstead's main street, minutes from the US-Canada border. I hope we can return soon!
