Came at opening on Sunday Dim Sum. Overall a little bit unorganized but acceptable for a restaurant that’s relatively new. The first order came really fast and then it got busier and our food took an EXTREMELY long time to come, like 35+ minutes which is way too much. The taste was not bad, nothing was cold, but the portions were really quite small. The staff were ok. Overall wouldn’t go back in the near future.
We've been trying to go there for the Dim Sum since opening, but it's always busy on weekends and I don't care how good a place is, I'm not waiting outside in the cold to eat.
Let's start by the most important part, the food. The food is as good as Chinese food gets in Montreal. I have nothing to complain about here. The portions are generous and the cooks clearly know what they are doing. Everything we ordered was tasty.
Service : we were seated by a gentleman who showed us our table and left. We sat there 20 minutes waiting for menus. Turns out they are living in the future or we're living in the last century. The menu was on a little 10 cm x 10 cm piece of receipt paper that was lying on our table. We had to scan the QR code on that tiny paper. I honestly wasn't sure if I had to just read the menu online and order with a waiter or order through my phone. I waiter another 15 minutes without being addressed by anyone to figure out it was the latter.
Once ordered, the food came out quite quickly. They are very efficient.
[Sunday Dim Sum Review] It was okay. I expected it to be busy since it's a new location, but it was PACKED. Had to wait 30 minutes for a table of 4 when we arrived at 11am. Don't forget to take a number so they can call you when they go through "the list".
Food items were like the other locations, nothing particular to comment on. I wished they were served hot instead of warm. Service could be improved, it was really long.
Overall : if you want to try this location for dim sum, they would come after 1 pm, or wait out the hype a bit (come in 2-3 weeks when it calms down).
Chinatown good caliber food here in the west island - finally.l! Ordering during busy times is made easier via the QR code provided after sitting. This guarantees freshness and quicker delivery of your food. My only complaint is it is really busy during the weekend at lunch time.
I've been excited from the news that Imperial Restaurant, known for their reception hall and especially their dim sum, will be coming to the west island. We used to have another dim sum restaurant, but unfortunately, it didn't take off.
I visited the restaurant during its construction, when takeout was only offered to when the dine-in officially opened. Welcome to the west island Imperial Restaurant.
Just opening the dine-in this Monday, the staff was very friendly, quick and organized. Most restaurants that open usually have some bumps to work out before things run smoothly. Not Imperial. And the restaurant was packed.
The dine-in area is divided in 2, separated by a mask decorative curtain. Assuming one side designed more for receptions, weddings, large group gatherings, etc... and the other side more for romantic feel.
The food was excellent! Each dish was flavorful and filling. Speed and presentation of the food was perfect. The menu has a huge variety of dim sum and "a la carte" selection. Price for the dishes are about average. If you never had dim sum, it can get expensive but worth it.
I've heard ordering online needs work. Dine-in is preferable. Will strongly recommend and there often!!!
